VG Views

A former Electronic Arts colleague approached us in the fall of 2007 with a prototype for a video game social network he was building. The backend (code and database) had been completed and he was looking for help establishing a look and feel for the site. VG Views is a video game social network – the site allows visitors to read reviews for games, rate and comment on other peoples reviews, as well as write reviews.

More than any other market video game players present a challenge for designers. They’ve seen it all while playing games on their XBox or Play Station. So how do you impresses this group and keep you’re design simple and functional. A good creative process becomes very important in order to achieve the balance between the “wow factor” and the sites core functionality. Over a couple of months we went through our design process to create a logo and a site that would appeal to hardcore gamers while remaining simple to navigate and use.
